The History Of Memphis Beautiful Sounds Of Music

Memphis has always been a staple on the United States’ music seen in the South. It has a founding role in each of these genres which include: Blues, Gospel, Rock n’ Roll, and even certain styles of Country music. Some of the exemplary artists that got a huge start in Memphis feature Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, and B. B. King. Respectively, each of these artists have attained a global presence and remain in the history books for the achievements. On the other side, Opera has great prevalence in the area, and there is even an opera company called Opera Memphis. Beale Street is a popular area for live music performances, and a lot of upcoming/big named artists get a lot of recognition performing there. More recently, a growing Southern Hip-Hop scene booms from there. Three 6 Mafia is the most mainstream group coming from the area. Selling well over 15 million records plus getting an Academy Award for their song “It’s Hard out Here for a Pimp” from the Hustle and Flow soundtrack. They became the first black music group to win an Academy Award for best song. Memphis continues to be a hotbed/innovator for musical production in this industry.
